Vacation Travel

In preparing for our long trip over the ocean in the end of July with a newborn and a 23-month-old, we bought an airplane seat harness for Keely instead of using the car seat so we only have to lug one car seat around with us! It is called the CARES system and goes over the seat and through the lap belt. The was our first opportunity to use it and it worked pretty well. She is just at the minimum weight for it, so it's a little big but she can't unhook it or stand up with it on so that was good. And she enjoyed having her own seat...and I did too! Jacob also put some of Keely's Veggie Tales on his phone/pda for Keely to watch. There were/are some cons to that but she really did enjoy watching them and it will help with that long journey in July as well. It didn't take her long to figure out how to work it herself either. The screen went black and I didn't know what to do and she took my finger and pushed it on the correct two buttons to get it to come back on!!

That harness seems cool! Where did you get it? What weight does it go up to? Cool :)

  2. Here's the website where you can buy it: http://www.kidsflysafe.com/ It's FAA approved (though one of the local airlines gave us a bad time about it). It's for children 1 year-4 years -- 22lbs-44lbs. AND it only weighs 500 grams!! It is pricey, but we figure we'll be able to use it a long time with both girls. So far we think it's as good as it seems, but we'll really know after our LONG trip!
