Our Apartment

The apartment we are staying in while we study language is across the street from a university. Jacob has class in the morning and I have class in the afternoon. In Chiang Mai, Keely and I get out every day either to the store or just to walk around the neighborhood. So, she has been begging to get out and so we have walked around the campus a couple mornings. The first morning, it was when classes were changing and we got bombarded by a bunch of girls outside of their dorm. They all talked to her and then one got out her camera phone so all of them did. However, Keely loved the attention! Saturday night, we went to an English corner, however, Keely and I played while everyone talked. This morning, we saw and talked to one of the girls that had been there Saturday night.

There is also a restaurant on the bottom floor of our building and there is where we get lunch on most days. Jacob stops by there after class and tries out his language and brings us lunch. Today we discovered Keely likes fried noodles!

Our friends let us borrow several of their toys while we are here also. When you press the letters on the bus it plays a little song about what sound the letter makes. Keely loves pressing buttons so it has been a big hit!

The bathroom in our apartment doesn't have a tub or a stall for the shower. So, when you shower the water goes all over the bathroom, which is alright for us but what about a 1 year old who takes baths? Our friends have an inflatable bath tub that they let us borrow, which works great for Keely's baths. At home, Keely likes to stand while taking a bath but that doesn't work with this tub so I found some bubble bath to entice her to sit and she loves the bubbles!

The night before we left, we were waiting a long time at a photo shop to get some photos printed. Keely was getting bored, so I taught her how to push the stools around by herself like a walker. She thought it was the greatest thing! Keely has finally started walking some on her own, but it is difficult with socks (especially for a little girl who has never worn socks much) combined with a wooden floor and pants that are too long! I was trying to keep her entertained yesterday and got out a stool and let her walk around the apartment. She still thinks it is great fun!

"Hi Mom!"

"Move out of the way Dad, I'm coming through!"
