Here are my thoughts on our three strollers.
1. Large stroller that fully reclines: This is the one I had been thinking we would take with us. Both Keely and Jordan can use it since it fully reclines.

2. Umbrella Stroller

3. Double Stroller
Pros:
1. Large stroller that fully reclines: This is the one I had been thinking we would take with us. Both Keely and Jordan can use it since it fully reclines.
Pro:
- Both Keely and Jordan can use it (in the airport and our whole time in the States). (My plan has been to use the sling for Jordan and the stroller for Keely and then when Keely wants to walk we could use the stroller for Jordan if we wanted.)
- It's bulky and heavier than our umbrella stroller.
- It's a little difficult to hang bags on the back because the handles are connected by a bar.
2. Umbrella Stroller
Pro:
- It's light weight and has a bag so it won't get messed up when we gate check it.
- Only Keely could use this stroller in the airport and most of our time in the States (until November or so).
- It doesn't recline a lot if Keely wants to rest or sleep in it.
3. Double Stroller
Pros:
- Both Keely and Jordan will have a seat at any time.
- Keely seems to like the openness of this stroller and being able to sit by Jordan and check on her when she wants.
- Even though it is an umbrella stroller it reclines pretty well so Jordan can use it and Keely could rest.
- It's heavy and bulky.
- Wherever we would go in the States we would only have this bulkier stroller and not a thinner single stroller.
Take the double one, and borrow your parents' while you are here, when you need it! : )
ReplyDeleteI agree. And if you HAVE to have an umbrella stroller while you , they are much cheaper to purchase than if you HAVE to have a double one! Are you going to be here for the runion? I would love to see you!
ReplyDeletei vote for reclining single seater. it's hard enough to travel with small children, then pack on the bulky equipment. if you need an umbrella stroller while in the states, walmart sells them for $10. i bought one last time i was in jax.
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one, but I think I would take the double one as well. Either that or the big reclining one. Getting either one back home might be a hassle, but I think you will be very glad to have a bigger stroller while you are there! We brought an umbrella stroller back with us in May and never used it--we used the huge American-style stroller my parents had kept from when Aidan was a baby. It was SO NICE to have--much more comfortable for Lucas for long day trips to the zoo, the mall, the museum, etc. You may do lots of things like that where you will want to have a place for both girls to rest and ride. And I had forgotten how much easier America is to navigate with a big stroller. Wide sidewalks, wide aisles, bigger trunks, lots more open space--it's so much easier than here! And, as others have said, you can always pick up a $10-15 stroller at Wal-mart if you need it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Jason and Danny are a lot farther apart, but Jason was pretty much tired of the stroller when he turned 2. Then, he wanted to ride in it again when he saw Danny in it. I would agree with the others though. Don't take the umbrella - you'll really want the bigger one in the US. I've never dealt with the double, so I can't add anything there. Just be sure that Jordan can ride comfortably in it from the time you get to the US.
ReplyDeleteI'd take the double (and the sling) and borrow or buy a simple single umbrella stroller while you're home. We haven't traveled internationally with the kids, but we've traveled here and have experimented with several different scenarios when it comes to which kid in which stroller, when to take the sling, etc. Bet your parents can't wait!
