Yesterday was Jacob's birthday. It was also a typhoon day, and so instead of going out to celebrate we celebrated at home. We had a nice brunch of biscuits, leftover chick-fil-a chicken strips and breakfast potatoes. For dinner we had BBQ chicken pizza and cheese pizza. For dessert we had cheesecake with a pretzel crust and a mousse type pudding topping (I had some supply issues so the topping became plan C or so!) We relaxed and played a couple games of Mexican Train and Zingo.
The girls wanted to choose and buy Jacob's gift themselves. He did get a lens earlier in the year that has been qualified as a gift that keeps giving for each holiday this year! The gift they keep choosing is a mug at Starbucks. A travel mug. We have a lot of them, but we did use every one of them when our student was staying with us and in the hospital so I guess we can use more! The girls went straight to my wrapping box to find paper. We have colored tissue paper and Christmas wrapping paper. Keely explained her predictament to me. "Mom, I want to use wrapping paper but we only have Christmas. Is that okay" "Sure!" Then I hear her explaining to Jordan that they needed to choose one that wasn't too girly. "Mom, we tried to pick one out that wasn't too girly. Do you think it's ok it has a little bit of pink on it?" "Sure!"
Then they went into the kitchen to wrap it and I was told that I wasn't needed. Jacob teased the girls as he unwrapped his gift about all of the tape they used. He kept trying to put the tape on them! Finally he got it open!!
On the cheesecake, I tried to design a 3 and a 4 with the candles. Before it was lighted it looked close. After it was lit, it was just a ball of fire -- as you can see from all of that smoke!! Jacob suggested that we stock up on all of the numbers 0-9 and an extra 1 to alleviate this problem!
